Samuele Minelli Zuffa is the Niger researcher at ACLED. He contributes to the collection and analysis of conflict data for Niger and West Africa. His research focuses on Violent Non-State Actors in the Central Sahel, particularly investigating violence against civilians, political territoriality, and the crime-terror nexus. Before joining ACLED, Samuele conducted conflict research for various think tanks, including the International Crisis Group, publishing over 30 articles on West Africa’s security challenges. He holds an IntM in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies from the IMSISS consortium and a BA in Diplomatic and International Studies from the University of Bologna.

In July, violence from Sudan’s war spilled into a bordering prefecture in CAR, and power struggles in the South Tigray zone of Ethiopia and the Hiiraan region of Somalia continued to affect security in the region.
