West Bank: At least 20 Palestinians killed by settlers since 7 October 2023 — Expert Comment

ACLED Middle East Senior Analyst Ameneh Mehvar says: 

“The beating to death of an American-Palestinian, the death of another American-Palestinian citizen from smoke inhalation after settlers set fire to homes, and the shooting of a prominent peace activist are stark reminders that settler violence in the West Bank continues to spiral unchecked. Fueled by a culture of impunity and government policies that have emboldened settlers more than ever before, this violence — once largely limited to stone-throwing and covert nighttime attacks on property — is now increasingly claiming Palestinian lives. ACLED records at least 20 Palestinians killed directly by settlers since the start of the war in Gaza.”
