ACLED Conflict Index & 2026 Watchlist Virtual Launch
In 2025, high levels of conflict became the new normal. What does this mean for the conflict landscape in 2026?
ACLED’s Conflict Index offers a data-driven analysis of 2025’s violence across every country and territory in the world. Using four key indicators — deadliness, danger to civilians, geographic diffusion, and the number of active armed groups — the Index provides a snapshot of global conflict trends. The 2026 Watchlist then turns to the year ahead, highlighting 10 crisis areas where conditions are likely to shift, for better or for worse.
Hosted by ACLED CEO Prof. Clionadh Raleigh, this event explored the findings of these two reports with ACLED’s Head of Data Science Katayoun Kishi and Head of Analysis Andrea Carboni followed by a Q&A.
