Data Update: Enhanced granularity of location information in ACLED's Colombia dataset
Improvements to ACLED's Colombia data published
On 15 September 2025, ACLED published a project to enhance the geographic precision of events coded in Colombia. Previously, rural events occurring in ‘veredas’ (small rural settlements) were coded at the municipality level (Admin 2 level), with a ‘Geo-precision’ of 2. Through this project, these events were corrected to more specific coordinates corresponding to the center point of the relevant vereda.

Correction period and scope: 1 January 2018 to present, covering all data for Colombia
Total events corrected: 2,324 events were corrected with improved location information
