Data update: Expanded coverage of violence targeting the ethnic Baloch community in Pakistan
New data published in ACLED's Pakistan dataset
On 10 February 2026, ACLED published data from three new sources to improve coverage of violent events targeting the ethnic Baloch community, primarily in Balochistan province, Pakistan. A small number of events were also added in Sindh, Punjab, and the Islamabad Capital Territory.
This project incorporates reporting from Baloch-focused sources, including Sangar Publication, Balochwarna News, and Balochistan Post (to replace coverage for the now inactive source Balochistan Point).
Analytical note: ACLED first released data for this project in July 2025, covering events from January 2024 onward. A subsequent release on 10 February 2026 expanded coverage back to 1 January 2022. Historical data for the period 2018–2021 will be incorporated in a future release. Long-term trend analysis extending prior to 2022 should account for this pending historical coverage.
