Data update: Improved location coding for Kabul city in ACLED's Afghanistan dataset
Location coding for events in Kabul city has been improved
On 24 February 2026, ACLED published corrections to location coding for events in Kabul city, Afghanistan, covering the period 1 January 2020 to 1 February 2026. This project standardized sub-city location coding by replacing most existing Kabul city locations with a new set of locations based on Kabul's 22 Police Districts (Kabul - PD1 through Kabul - PD22), improving geographic granularity for events where district-level information was available in the source notes.
