Data update: Incorporation of data from partner organization in ACLED’s Afghanistan dataset
ACLED updates its Afghanistan dataset with data from a partner, enhancing coverage with over 500 new events and 350 fatalities.

Starting from 28 December 2024, ACLED is incorporating data from an undisclosed partner organization to improve its coverage of Afghanistan. Historical data going back to 1 September 2021 have been added to ACLED’s dataset, with an addition of over 500 new events. Furthermore, a total of almost 350 new fatalities were added to the dataset for the period of coverage.
The new data enhance ACLED’s coverage of Afghanistan, particularly ‘Violence against civilians’ and ‘Battles’ event types in the Kabul, Panjshir, and Takhar provinces.
