Data update: Incorporation of Risk and Strategic Management, Corporation’s data into ACLED’s South Sudan dataset

Starting from 28 January 2025, ACLED is incorporating data from its partner organization, the Risk and Strategic Management, Corp. (RSM). Historical data going back to 9 December 2020 have been added to ACLED’s dataset. The new data significantly enhance ACLED’s coverage of South Sudan, particularly in remote areas.

Risk and Strategic Management, Corp. (RSM) is a full-service risk and business continuity consulting, management services, training, and capacity-building organization.

Summary of changes

ACLED added nearly 4,500 new events and updated over 180 existing events with new information. Furthermore, over 5,600 additional fatalities were added to the dataset. The new data provide a more comprehensive coverage of conflict in South Sudan, particularly in previously underreported areas.
