Data Update: New partner data from COES published in ACLED's Chile dataset

On 2 February 2026, ACLED published the third installment of data from ACLED’s partner organization COES (Centro de Estudios de Conflicto y Cohesión Social).  This release adds 887 new events and 763 corrections to previously published events, covering the period from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023. With this update, the dataset now includes a cumulative total of 2,167 new events added across three installments.

Analytical note: This is a partial data release. Until forthcoming publications are issued, ACLED’s Chile dataset contains an artificial gap in coverage. Data from COES is currently available for the periods 19 October 2019 to 26 November 2019, and 1 January 2022 to the present. Periods before or between these ranges remain unpublished. Any analysis spanning these dates should take this gap into consideration. Additional data addressing these missing periods will be published at a forthcoming date.

Previous Update:

On 11 August 2025, ACLED published the second installment of data from ACLED’s partner organization COES (Centro de Estudios de Conflicto y Cohesión Social). This release adds an additional 496 new events to the dataset covering the period from 1 January 2024 to present. 

With this update, the dataset now includes a cumulative total of 1,280 new events added across all installments.

Data from COES is currently available for 19 October 2019 to 26 November 2019, and for 1 January 2024 to present. Periods before or between these ranges remain unpublished. Previous Update:

On 15 July 2025, new data from ACLED’s partner organization COES (Centro de Estudios de Conflicto y Cohesión Social) were published in ACLED's Chile dataset. This addition enhances coverage of the ‘Estallido Social’ in Chile, when nationwide demonstrations and riots occurred from October 2019 through March 2020. 

This is a partial release of the data covering events from 19 October 2019 to 26 November 2019. A second forthcoming publication will cover the remainder of the ‘Estallido Social’ period (data from 27 November 2019 to 18 March 2020). Additional data from COES extending beyond the ‘Estallido Social’ (2018-present) will also be published at a later date.
