Spotlight: Russia counter-attacks in Kursk region

Russian forces launched counteroffensive operations in Russia’s Kursk region after losing control over more than 1,000 square kilometers as a result of the Ukrainian incursion since 6 August. On 10 and 11 September, Russian troops reportedly recaptured nine settlements in the Korenevskiy district. Ukraine remains in control of the town of Sudzha and the larger part of the surrounding district. Russia is reportedly deploying additional units to the Kursk region. Meanwhile, in a probable attempt to regain the initiative and further stretch Russian resources, Ukrainian forces crossed the Russia-Ukraine border near Tyotkino in the Glushkovskyi district, west of the current area of operations.
