Jihadist groups remain a persistent and evolving threat globally. Their strength today lies not only in their local footholds but increasingly in how they connect, adapt, and learn. From the Sahel to the Levant and  Asia, these groups are drawing on shared tactics, narratives, and strategic models, allowing them to remain resilient despite sustained counter-terrorism pressure.

Join ACLED on 14 May 2 p.m. CET | 1 p.m. London for a webinar that will explore the overlapping patterns of jihadist movements across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. It will examine common trends in how groups operate — from governance and territorial control to propaganda and recruitment — and assess how developments in one region resonate far beyond their immediate context, shaping the strategies and ambitions of groups elsewhere.

By bringing together the findings of a new ACLED report about jihadist groups’ changes in tactics and use of technology in Africa, as well as the insights of regional experts, the discussion will offer a comparative perspective on how these networks evolve, what shared patterns are emerging, and what this means for future security risks and policy responses.
