Situation Summary
In the Donetsk region, fighting concentrated around Avdiivka and Bakhmut, with no significant changes in territory reported. Clashes were recorded across the frontline in the Zaporizhia region. In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces continued to advance east of Kupiansk. In the Kherson region, fighting continued between Oleshky and Krynky on the southern bank of the Dnipro river, with Ukrainian forces reportedly pushing Russian forces further inland.
Ukrainian forces targeted Crimea with drones and missiles throughout the week, reportedly hitting a Russian air defense crew in Dzhankoy and causing a blaze at a power plant in Saky. A Ukrainian drone strike killed a Russian journalist in occupied Tokmak in the Zaporizhia region. Additionally, unknown perpetrators exploded a car in occupied Kreminna in the Luhansk region, injuring two high-ranking police officers.
Russian shelling and airstrikes killed over a dozen civilians in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Sumy regions. On 23 November, Russian shelling of Chornobaivka in the Kherson region killed three civilians and wounded five others. Russian shelling of Kherson city throughout the week killed three civilians and wounded at least a dozen. On 21 November, Russian forces shelled a hospital in Selydove in the Donetsk region, killing one civilian and wounding eight others. Russia resumed its mass drone strike campaign against Kyiv city and the surrounding Kyiv region on 18 and 19 November after a six-week-long lull. Air defense intercepted most of the drones.
