Situation Summary
Heavy fighting continued in the Donetsk region, with Russian forces reportedly advancing near Avdiivka, Marinka, Vuhledar, and Lyman. In the Zaporizhia region, Ukrainian forces gained ground near Kamianske in the western part of the region and south of Orikhiv. Clashes continued on the Kreminna-Svatove-Kupiansk line in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions, with Ukrainian forces reportedly advancing west and south of Kreminna in the Luhansk region.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces struck Russian positions and military equipment in the occupied parts of the Luhansk and Kherson regions, claiming heavy casualties among Russian soldiers.1Suspilne Media, ‘Ukrainian border guards eliminate 11 soldiers of the Russian Federation,’ 9 February 2024; Telegram @SJTF_Odes, 8 February 2024. Russian shelling, missiles, and airstrikes killed at least 30 civilians in Kyiv city and the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhia regions. On 7 February, Russian forces launched coordinated missile and drone strikes on several regions, including Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Lviv. In Kyiv city, the missile attack killed four civilians and wounded around 40 others. Russian missiles also killed one civilian and wounded 12 others in Mykolaiv city. On 9 February, Russian drones hit a fuel depot in Kharkiv city, sparking a fire that killed seven civilians, including three children, and wounded 57 others. Russian shelling of Kherson city led to five civilian fatalities on 5 February. In the border areas of the Sumy region, Russian shelling killed four civilians and wounded at least 13 others throughout the week. Additionally, Russian forces executed a civilian couple in Oleshky in the Kherson region, reportedly due to the husband’s cooperation with the Ukrainian security service, and shot dead two unarmed surrendering Ukrainian soldiers in the area of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

Situation Summary
Russian forces continued offensive operations in the area of Kreminna in the Luhansk region and north of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. Heavy fighting also continued in the Donetsk region, where Russian forces continued attempts to encircle Bakhmut, capturing several settlements around the city.
Meanwhile, Russian shelling along the frontline reportedly killed over a dozen civilians in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. Among them, six civilians were reportedly killed when Russian forces shelled a bus stop and residential buildings in Kherson on 21 February. Russian shelling and missile strikes also hit civilian targets in several other regions, including in the western city of Khmelnytskyi, where Russian missiles struck civilian infrastructure on 18 February, and in the Sumy region, where a Russian anti-tank guided missile struck a civilian bus on 24 February.
