Situation Summary
In the Donetsk region, Russian forces seized control of several villages amid their ongoing advance northwest of Donetsk city towards Pokrovsk, also making marginal gains near Vuhledar. In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces continued pushing towards Kupiansk, occupying a village southeast of the city. Clashes also continued along the Kharkiv boundary in the Luhansk region, southeast of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhia region, and near Krynky and Kozachi Laheri on the occupied southern bank of the Dnipro river in the Kherson region.
Russian shelling, drones, and airstrikes killed over 20 civilians in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Sumy regions. On 24 July, Russian forces continuously struck Kharkiv city with missiles and aerial bombs, killing one civilian and wounding at least nine others, as well as damaging the office of a Swiss mine action organization. Kherson city was under Russian shelling and drone strikes throughout the week, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to over a dozen others. Russian forces also continued to target Ukraine’s infrastructure, hitting energy facilities in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, and port infrastructure in the Odesa region.
