Rafaela Maia Carvalho is a Researcher for the South America and East Asia Pacific desks at ACLED and has been with the organization since September 2023. She is currently responsible for coding events of political violence and demonstrations in Brazil and East Timor, while also providing weekly analysis for the team. Rafaela holds a Master's degree in Ineternational Relations from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Universidade Federal Fluminense. Her research expertise spans international politics, peace and conflict, and human rights, with a particular focus on Brazilian Indigenous Peoples.
