Valerio Colosio is a Doctor of Social Anthropology. He completed his PhD at the University of Sussex in May 2018 and has experience in both academia and development organizations, primarily working in Chad. His PhD research was part of the broader 'Shadows of Slavery in West Africa and Beyond. A Historical Anthropology' project funded by the European Research Council, and explored the social legacies of slavery in Chad. Between 2020 and 2022, he worked as an assistant professor at the Department of African Studies at Ankara Social Science University. Since 2022, he has been working as a research manager for the Italian NGO Fondazione ACRA, following projects on food security, conflict prevention, and women's empowerment, with a focus on the Sahel. He is also a research associate at the University of Sussex.
