Presidential and parliamentary elections in Ivory Coast were held on 31 October 2020. Serious acts of political violence were reported going into the vote, and it is imperative to track where this violence is currently taking place, where it will likely take place in the future, and the conditions driving it.

Drawing on a joint policy brief with the Clingendael Institute, ACLED’s new Ivory Coast Election Watch dashboard explores four election scenarios and maps the risks of election-related violence for each of the country’s 31 regions. The data show that electoral violence is highest in competitive locations, indicating that both the incumbent and opposition use violence in ‘swing’ areas and areas where they have needed to poach substantial numbers of votes from their opponent.

The dashboard has been updated with data through 28 November 2020.1Daily updates are now discontinued. All data are available for download through the Data Export Tool, with regular weekly updates.
