On 23 April 2025, ACLED published data from a new source in its Netherlands dataset. The new source, AD Netherlands, covers all historical event data in the Netherlands from 1 January 2020 to present. This addition improves the overall coverage of demonstration activity in the Netherlands.
The project led to the addition of 958 new events, resulting in a 27% increase in the number of events recorded in the Netherlands dataset. These additions were relatively evenly distributed across all years and spanned all 12 provinces of the country. The vast majority of new events, approximately 97%, were demonstration events. In addition, approximately 300 existing events were updated with additional information based on the new source.
