On 11 March 2025, ACLED expanded its coverage of Turkey with the integration of two new sources: Evrensel and Sendika. These sources were added from 1 January 2023 through the present day.
These sources improve coverage of both labor-related and anti-government demonstrations, adding nearly 3,000 events to the dataset for the period of coverage, a more than 30% increase in demonstration events. The impact is most significant for 2025 data, which saw about a 50% increase in demonstration events from 1 January 2025 to 21 March 2025. The newly added demonstration events are relatively evenly distributed across all provinces.
Although this release covers events from January 2023 to present, ACLED plans to back code additional years of data using these sources to ensure consistency in historical coverage of demonstration activity in Turkey.
