On 12 May 2025, ACLED published new data provided by ACLED partner Beni Peace Forum (BPF) into ACLED’s Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) dataset, covering the period from March 2018 to present. All partner data from this point will be integrated into ACLED’s weekly real-time data updates.
This new data from Beni Peace Forum strengthens ACLED’s monitoring of violence involving the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in eastern DRC, particularly in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces. The addition significantly improved coverage of ADF operations in North Kivu, providing new information that challenged prior trends that indicated that ADF activity was primarily concentrated in the Ituri province.
Over 1,100 new events were added and an additional 415 previously coded events in the dataset were corrected with new information as part of this project.
